How to Register

For those people who are re-registering due to address change, there is no 30-day requirement. They are allowed to vote even if they are within the 30 day period.

NO, you do NOT need a photo ID to register. Even though the voter registration form says “Attach ID Here,” you can ignore this part of the form. However, you WILL need a photo ID to cast your vote at the poll on election day.

    College students may register to vote either in the county in which they live while attending college or at their previous address, but not both.

    If you are a resident South Carolina outside of Greenville county, mail your completed form to the Board of Voter Registration for your county. Addresses for all SC county election offices are on the back of the voter registration form.

    If you are a Greenville County resident, you can:

    • Give one of our registration volunteers your completed, sealed voter registration form, and we will turn it into the Greenville County Board of Voter Registration on your behalf;
    • Mail your completed form to the Board of Voter Registration. The correct address (for Greenville as well as all other South Carolina Counties) is on the back of the form;
    • Take your completed form to the Greenville County Board of Voter Registration in person.

    You must register using a street address (not a P.O. box). College students whose mailing address includes a P.O. box should include the name of their dorm as well.

    If you have moved since previously registering, even on the same street, you must register again with your new address. In short, the address on your photo ID must match the address on your voter registration.
